Field Update – April 16, 2015

April 16, 2015

Dear Friends in Christ,

Greetings in the Name of the Lord Jesus.

HERE’S WHAT WE’VE BEEN DOING IN SE ASIA.

Jane and I have been honoured to be living in Penang, Malaysia and to help serving churches and leaders.  We have a significant relationship with FGA Centre, and other important relationships with Every Nation Penang, Saltshakers Church, and Vineyard Fellowship.  We’ve been received as friends and co-workers in the ministry, and we feel a great sense of bonding with the people and the work of the ministry.   The Lord is moving in FGA Church, and we are excited with faith and expectation together with the leaders about all that God is doing. We’re truly humbled and honoured to be in Penang.

I was traveling in Cameron Highlands, Malaysia, without Jane a few weeks ago, where I spoke for a church retreat for 3 days and 2 nights. This area of Malaysia has overnight temps of about 60F. It was a welcomed relief as the temps in Penang had been 80-84 overnight at that time.  I prepared and spoke for 4 sessions at the retreat on the topic of “Experiencing God,” and the time went great. After the last session I needed to depart promptly, and I was driven by car for 4 hours to get to the airport in Kuala Lumpur, to fly to Borneo. I spent that weekend at a church whom Jane and I have grown to love. These Chinese congregations are on fire for God, and they are doing something significant for the Orang Ulu (people of the interior) of Borneo.  I spoke and ministered in 4 services and flew back to Penang after the weekend.

I traveled to Burma a few days later at the end of March and beginning of April, via Penang-Kuala Lumpur-Rangoon. I was asked to speak in a seminar which I prepared material to teach on the subject of: “The Blood Covenant.” I then spoke at church services on Palm Sunday, and prepared a message entitled, “Donkeys For Jesus.” One of the great highlights in Burma is to spend quality time with the pastor and his wife, and to have an ongoing deep friendship with them.  I was also able to bring some needed financial resources in the form of US Dollars to help the pastor and their work there.

While in Burma, I spent time visiting the Shwedagon Pagoda, where many monks and Buddhist devotees visit every day. It’s always my plan to spend a big part of a day going to there to pray, and see how the Lord opens up doors for evangelism. I spent several hours there that day, and I spoke at length to 2 different monks and shared the gospel.  It was so humbling to see one monk open his heart and mind, and to begin to understand the gospel.  I am often praying for him, and hoping to be in contact with him.  His name is Ja Wa Na. (Incidentally, while in the temple compound, I had to walk barefoot, but it was so hot that day. (between 102-105F!). My feet were so tender, and I was finding it difficult to even walk around, but I was amazed how the local people could casually walk on the hot tiles of the compound without even flinching.

PROJECT NEPAL:

I’ll be traveling to Kathmandu and Pokhara Nepal at the end of this month for ministry and mentoring leaders.   It is a challenging trip.  The burden of our heart is to bring practical assistance to our co-worker, Pastor Nade Lama.  We are praying for funds to buy several pieces of equipment, and to bring US dollars to help his ministry of church planting.  This pastor tirelessly serves in the foothills of the Himalayas, planting churches and doing evangelism.  The help is so needed.

NEEDS:

  • EPSON LCD PROJECTOR:   $530/USD (We are able to get a great deal through an AV businessman in Malaysia)
  • SONY XRS-7 RECHARGEABLE SPEAKER:  $300
  • MP3 TOUCH PLAYER: $50, ACCESSORIES: $50
  • LOVE OFFERING:  $800
  • AIRFARES (INTERNATIONAL AND DOMESTIC) AND LODGING: $960

If you are able to help with this MINISTRY PROJECT,  you can donate via paypal, or by mail.   God bless you abundantly.

IMP is dearly in need of MONTHLY PARTNERS.  Would you pray about being part of this ministry?  If the Lord speaks to you concerning this, please feel to respond back to us.  We are honoured to be sent out in ministry in SE Asia.

“God is not unjust, He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them.” – Hebrews 6:10

His Servants … Yours,

Charles and Jane Curtis
